This research presents the design of infrared objective zoom lens for the thermal imaging channel integrated into optoelectronic systems used for defensive area surveillance. The system is required to operate effectively under both day and night conditions, while ensuring both wide-area observation and long-range target recognition. The study focuses on the selection of suitable optical materials, the development of the optical configuration, aberration correction, and system performance evaluation through criteria such as modulation transfer function (MTF), relative illumination, spherical aberration and field curvature, distortion. The results show that the proposed optical system with a focal length range of 31–155 mm and a corresponding aperture from F/1.0 to F/1.6 meets image quality requirements across the entire focal length range. This research contributes to mastering the design methodology of infrared zoom lenses and provides a practical foundation for the development of optoelectronic systems for defense applications.
